About Us

Hug Me! Dolls was founded in Phnom Penh by Jet Odrerir as a way to foster cross-cultural diversity while creating job opportunities for disadvantaged Cambodians.

The dolls and their clothes are made by local Aid Organizations and local independent trades-people. The computer embroidery and silk-screening is done by local businesses. Every doll sold helps out these organizations and the local economy. The Hug Me! Doll organization believes in using Fair Trade practices at all levels of business.

Velcro and elastic make dressing and undressing the doll easy for children. The Apsara skirts are handmade Cambodian silk and the kromas are 100% cotton. The doll body is cotton and the clothes are a cotton/polyester blend. The hair and embroidery are acrylic. The dolls are stuffed with Cambodian kapok. The doll's face, the Apsara flower and the Apsara crown are all computer embroidered. There are almost 50,000 stitches in the Apsara crown!
